[otter-files] Attempting but failing to save a bookmark returns unhelpful message

I'm unable to remove or add bookmarks for some reason. I had preexisting bookmarks in my .config/gtk-3.0, which i could not remove until i blanked the file. I also tried removed the file entirely if there was some strange write permission error. I still seem to be unable to add bookmarks.

Steps to reproduce

  1. right click any folder
  2. select "add to bookmarks"

Expected behavior

either the bookmark is added to my places or it would tell me the reason why it could not be saved

Actual behavior

outputs only "bookmark could not be saved"
